People come in all shapes and sizes, and thank goodness, so do jeans. No matter whether you have an hourglass figure, a pear figure or an apple figure, there is a pair of jeans that will highlight all your best features. A short overview:

Hourglass figure: High-waisted jeans will accentuate your waist, making you appear taller and slimmer. Choose trousers that are not too tight so that everything stays in proportion.
Apple figure: If you prefer to hide a bit of belly, then high-waisted jeans are also a good choice for you. The exact model doesn't really matter – slim, flared, bootcut, straight – these jeans will make your legs look longer and slimmer. Stay away from loose-fitting trousers like boyfriend jeans. With those, you will achieve just the opposite effect.
Straight figure: Jeans with a normal waist will bring your figure into balance. Feel free to try skinny jeans that accentuate your slim legs. But you can also get away with a looser model.
Inverted triangle figure: Jeans with wider legs create a balance with your fuller top. Avoid trousers that are too tight. These will only emphasise your broader shoulders even more.

Straight: Tighter through the buttocks with straight legs.
Mom: High waist, tighter through the buttocks, wider trouser legs with narrower ankles.
Flared: Tighter around the hips, flared wide from the knee or calf down (think nineties).
Loose: Not tight at all, just loose from the hips all the way down.
Wide: Trouser legs flared from the waist down.
Bootcut: Close-fitting around the hips and slightly flared from the knee down.
Skinny: Extra tight everywhere.
Slim: Tighter through the buttocks with narrow trouser legs but not as tight as the Skinny.
Boyfriend: Quite snug through the buttocks but very loose from there on down.

Once you find the perfect pair of jeans, you'll want to wear them until the end of time. If you wash them correctly, you’ll increase your chances of actually being able to. A few tips:

Wash your jeans as little as possible – this ensures that the fabric wears out less quickly. There are even people who never wash their jeans. Sticking hem in the freezer will also kill the bacteria!
Turn your jeans inside out – this will prevent the colour from fading.
Use detergent for coloured clothes – another way to prevent the colour from fading. For skinny jeans, it's better to use detergent for delicates.
Add vinegar – it’s the perfect fabric softener for jeans. Ordinary fabric softener negatively affects the elasticity of the fabric.
Wash jeans at a maximum of 30 degrees – select a short programme or a delicate cycle.
